ProCare Therapy is seeking a compassionate and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team in the Bronx, NY. As a Special Education Teacher, you will have the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of students with special needs. You will be responsible for designing and implementing individualized educational plans, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, and collaborating with a supportive team of professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs based on their unique abilities and goals.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities in various academic subjects, life skills, and social-emotional development.
- Create and adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Assess and monitor students' progress regularly, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary.
- Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and parents to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including progress reports, IEPs, and behavior plans.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes engagement, independence, and self-advocacy skills.
- Attend team meetings, professional development sessions, and parent conferences as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid New York State teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with special needs, preferably in a school setting.
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with diverse abilities.
