Soliant is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team for the 2023/2024 school year in South Carolina. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, based on assessments and collaboration with parents, guardians, and other educational professionals.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to accommodate the unique learning styles and abilities of students with disabilities.
- Create and maintain a positive and supportive classroom environment that fosters learning and growth.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in a small group or one-on-one setting, as needed.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and other staff members to ensure the successful inclusion of students with disabilities in the general education curriculum.
- Regularly assess student progress, adjust instructional strategies, and document student performance and achievements.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on student progress, goals, and interventions.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school-based meetings to discuss student needs and progress.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education from the South Carolina Department of Education (or eligible for certification).
- Prior experience working as a Special Education Teacher, preferably in a K-12 school setting.
- Sound knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with special needs.
- Ability to maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
