Job Summary: As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities. You will collaborate with a team of educators, support staff, and parents to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that address the unique needs of each student. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on student assessments and goals.
  • Provide direct instruction in various subject areas, tailoring instruction to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Utilize effective instructional strategies, assistive technology, and accommodations to facilitate student engagement and progress.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff to create inclusive learning environments.
  • Monitor student progress, conduct ongoing assessments, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive student records, including progress reports and IEP documentation.
  • Regularly communicate with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development opportunities, and school-wide initiatives as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid Maryland State Teaching Certification in Special Education.
  • Previous experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on student needs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the academic and social growth of students with exceptional needs.
