The caseloads are variable based on the preference of the teacher, however, it would be with elementary or middle school aged students working in a functional skills room, or self-contained class.
Job Description:
- Resource or Self-Contained Special Education Teacher
- Elementary or Middle School (4 positions)
- Caseload size:
- Middle school - Functional skills
- 5-10 students
- Elementary school - social/emotional needs
- Approx. 10 students
- Middle school - Functional skills
- Full time (37.5hrs/week paid)
Responsibilities:
- Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with needs within a resource room setting
- Develop engaging lesson plans that coincide with state standards and meet goals within each student's IEP.
- Use instructional strategies and interventions to support students' academic, social, and emotional development
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure that students' needs are being met across all settings
- Monitor and document student progress, adjust instructional strategies as needed, and communicate regularly with parents and caregivers
- Attend IEP meetings and participate in other special education-related meetings and professional development opportunities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education (Master's degree preferred) or related field
- Valid teaching certification for Special Education or a SPED Endorsement
- Experience teaching in a school setting is preferred but not required
- Ability to pass background test and drug screenings
