To provide a positive, enthusiastic, nurturing, and caring educator to serve as a special education teacher in a self-contained structured teaching classroom. The purpose of the structured program is to teach elementary students with autism spectrum disorders or a developmental delay, providing a program and instruction to promote cognitive; academic; communication and language; behavioral and social; and physical development.



  • Plan for the learning, social, emotional and functional needs of individuals and groups of students.
  • Working with students with multiple disabilities and autism spectrum disorder.
  • Facilitate student success in pre-academics, academics, interpersonal skills and activities of functional daily living.
  • Provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with related service staff and general education teaching staff.
  • Work with assistive technology to help students access curriculum and to facilitate communication.
  • Complete all required IEP documentation and other student records.
  • Complete functional behavioral assessments and write behavior intervention plans.
  • Assess and progress monitor academic, behavioral and functional areas.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with students, parents and staff.
  • Experience with students with limited communication skills and behavioral needs. Trained or willingness to be trained in CPI.

  • Completing tasks using fine finger dexterity.
  • Utilizing computer keyboards and screens to enter, retrieve, and transform information or data.
  • Sitting, standing, walking
