Ideal candidates possess:
- An active Michigan Teaching Certificate
- An endorsement in one or more of the following: LD (Learning Disabilities), EI (Emotional Impairment), CI (Cognitive Impairment), or ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) preferred
- Highly Qualified status under NCLB guidelines
- Experience or a strong interest in special education, early childhood, and supporting children with varying disabilities
- Strong communication, adaptability, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to fostering inclusive, engaging learning environments
- Emergency or temporary licenses are not accepted
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering individualized and group instruction to meet students’ IEP goals
- Developing lesson plans tailored to diverse learning styles
- Collaborating with support staff and families to promote student growth
- Tracking student progress and maintaining accurate documentation
- Implementing positive behavioral interventions and supports
- Creating a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom community
- Participating in school meetings, IEPs, and professional development
