Special Education Teacher in Alstead, NH
Step into a vital role supporting high school students as a Resource Special Education Teacher in a dynamic school community. This full-time, contract assignment begins August 20, 2026, and continues through June 16, 2027* (with possible minor adjustments for snow days). You’ll collaborate with a dedicated team to deliver targeted support for a diverse group of learners—primarily students identified with Learning Disabilities, Other Health Impairments, or Emotional Disabilities.
Your days will center on providing direct specially designed instruction, guiding students through their academic challenges, and ensuring their growth is carefully tracked and documented. Working closely with families, general education teachers, and related service providers, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) is effectively implemented.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Special Education Teacher (resource level experience preferred)
- Previous experience working with high school students with diverse needs (LD, OHI, ED)
- Strong understanding of IEP development, case management, and compliance processes
- Effective collaboration and communication skills with staff, students, and families
- Excellent organizational abilities for progress monitoring and paperwork completion
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct special education services and specially designed instruction
- Manage a caseload of approximately 20 students, adjusting as needed per service delivery models
- Develop, review, implement, and monitor IEP goals and accommodations
- Complete documentation and compliance paperwork efficiently and accurately
- Partner with colleagues and families to foster student success and academic growth
- Track student progress and modify instructional strategies as required
This role offers a structured Monday–Friday schedule (35 hours per week) within the academic calendar. Interviews may be scheduled flexibly between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM EST, with accommodations available to fit your availability.
