Special Education Teacher in Arvada, CO

Both full-time and part-time schedules are available across elementary schools in Westminster, Thornton, and Broomfield, with each educator assigned to a single campus.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Colorado Department of Education certification with Special Education endorsement required
- Proven experience supporting students with significant autism, emotional dysregulation, or behavioral needs
- Familiarity with structured learning environments, AAC devices for non-verbal students, and data-driven classroom management
- Strong skills in de-escalation, life skill building, and adapting programs for elementary-aged students
- Comfortable working collaboratively with classroom paraprofessionals, related service providers, and other educators
- Ability to manage adult staff within classroom settings and maintain positive, effective classroom structures
What You’ll Do:
- Lead self-contained Structured Learning Services (SLS) classrooms or Significant Support Needs (SSN) and Affective Needs (AN) programs, focusing on K-8th grade students with severe autism or emotional/behavioral challenges
- Implement individualized supports and life skills curricula for student success within primary (K-2), elementary (2-5), or K-8 settings
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment—utilizing assistive communication technology as necessary
- Collaborate and co-teach with on-site paras and additional teachers, welcoming push-in support from specialized service providers
- Track student progress, collect and use behavioral and academic data to inform decision-making
- Guide, support, and mentor paraprofessional staff in daily routines and intervention implementation
