Desired qualifications and skills:
- Active Colorado Department of Education Certification with Special Education endorsement required
- Prior experience working with students facing significant autism, especially non-verbal students (AAC device familiarity is a plus)
- Skilled in de-escalating unsafe behaviors and implementing structured, data-driven classroom systems
- Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals and manage adult support in the classroom
- Experience building life skills with elementary-aged students, fostering adjustment to daily school routines
- Adaptability to work with diverse populations, including those with cognitive, mobility, communication, and social/emotional needs
Key responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction in self-contained or center-based programs for students with significant support needs (SSN), autism, and emotional/behavioral disabilities
- Maintain and adapt curriculum, leveraging data to drive interventions and monitor student progress
- Foster inclusive, positive learning environments in partnership with in-class support, related service providers, and specialists
- Utilize de-escalation strategies and support systems to ensure student and staff safety
- Manage and collaborate with classroom paraeducators and communicate regularly with families and school staff
- Support students in developing key life and social skills aligned to their specific learning needs
- Positions available: Full-time (37.5 hours/week) and part-time (.5 FTE), each assigned to a single school ranging from K-8
