Special Education Teacher | Avon, Colorado

Make an impact by supporting elementary students as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic, nurturing learning environment. This contract opportunity involves working with a mild/moderate classroom, guiding approximately 20 young learners near Avon, CO. With a supportive administration and a collaborative team of educators, you’ll help deliver individualized educational programs and foster growth for each student.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and adapt lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of students with mild to moderate disabilities
- Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with state guidelines and student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to facilitate academic, social, and emotional development
- Monitor and track student progress, providing regular updates to stakeholders
- Create a safe, positive, and engaging classroom culture that values inclusion and respect
- Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and team planning sessions
- Effectively manage classroom routines and behavior
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Special Education Teaching license appropriate for elementary level (or eligibility to obtain)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field
- Experience in elementary special education, particularly with mild/moderate populations
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials for varying abilities
- Competency in data-collection and progress monitoring
Details:
- Full-time, Monday/Thursday/Friday 7:40am-2:50pm; Wednesday 8:40am-2:50pm
- Contract period: November 2026 – May 2027 (with potential early start)
- Serve a caseload of approximately 20 elementary students
