Make an immediate impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting elementary or middle school students in a positive, resource-based setting. Two contract positions are available, with the option to choose your preferred grade level: elementary or middle school. Your expertise will benefit students at East Leroy Elementary and Athens High School, working with supportive peers and staff. The assignment is anticipated to run through June 2027, offering stability and the opportunity to truly connect with your caseload.
What We’re Looking For:
- Valid and active Michigan Special Education Teaching Certification (please include verification with your application)
- Experience working in resource room settings, preferably with elementary or middle school age groups
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Enthusiasm for tailoring instruction to diverse student needs
- Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff
Your Daily Contributions Will Include:
- Providing specialized resource instruction for students with IEPs in an inclusive, supportive environment
- Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Managing a manageable caseload (10 elementary or 11 middle school students)
- Communicating regularly with families regarding student progress and needs
- Collaborating with staff to foster a positive, inclusive school culture
- Maintaining accurate and timely progress monitoring and documentation
This contract position offers consistent daytime hours, with schedules aligning to either East Leroy Elementary (7:55 a.m. – 3:10 p.m.) or Athens High School (7:35 a.m. – 2:40 p.m.), for a total of 35 hours per week. Pay for this opportunity is $80.00 per hour.
