This full-time, itinerant substitute assignment offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working alongside dedicated professionals across varied settings. As an Itinerant Special Education Teacher, you'll provide essential coverage for classroom vacancies, leaves of absence, and ongoing program needs in a range of learning environments requiring flexibility, compassion, and expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction aligned with IEP goals to students with diverse learning, behavioral, emotional, and developmental needs
- Adapt swiftly to different classrooms, covering assignments in Enhanced Autism Programs, Functional and Life Skills classrooms, and Emotional Support settings
- Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to ensure continuity of educational programming
- Implement and monitor behavioral intervention plans, communication supports, and sensory regulation strategies
- Foster a positive, supportive learning atmosphere that encourages student growth and independence
- Maintain meticulous records and documentation in compliance with district and state guidelines
Desired Qualifications:
- Pennsylvania Special Education certification (required or preferred based on specific assignment)
- Previous experience teaching in special education classrooms with a focus on autism, emotional support, or multiple disabilities
- Strong classroom management and proven ability to support behavioral and emotional regulation
- Background with ABA-informed strategies, BIPs, and adapted curriculum preferred
- Flexibility and adaptability to rotate between sites within a 35-minute commuting window
- Experience with IU or specialized school settings is a plus
