Bilingual Therapies is seeking dedicated Exceptional Education Teachers (SPED) for full-time, onsite school-based positions in Birmingham, Alabama. The district has immediate needs at both the elementary and high school levels, with priority given to candidates interested in elementary self-contained classrooms. Self-contained classrooms typically serve 4–6 students, with a maximum of approximately 10 students depending on student needs.
Position Details
• Position: Exceptional Education Teacher / Special Education Teacher
• Grade Levels: Elementary and High School
• Schedule: Full-time
• Hours: 37.5 hours per week
• Setting: Onsite
• Dates: ASAP – May 27, 2027
• Elementary Focus: Self-contained classrooms
Responsibilities
• Provide specialized instruction based on student needs and IEP goals
• Develop and implement individualized education programs
• Monitor student progress and maintain required documentation
• Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff
• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
Qualifications
• Valid Alabama Special Education licensure required
• Elementary: K–6 Special Education endorsement required
• Secondary: 6–12 Special Education endorsement required
• Candidates with both endorsements are welcome
• Endorsement must match the grade level of the position
• Previous school-based experience preferred
Work Hours & Industry
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
