Special Education Teacher in Bristol, CT

Make a real impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting students in grades 3-5 in a Social Emotional Behavior (SEB) classroom. This full-time contract position, located near Bristol, CT, offers an in-person opportunity to foster positive change while working within a collaborative school environment. The role is scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:20 AM to 3:40 PM. The assignment is set through October, with the chance for extension based on school needs.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Prior experience teaching or supporting students with social-emotional and behavioral needs
- Strong classroom management skills and expertise in behavior intervention strategies
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Ability to work effectively with school teams, families, and support staff
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide differentiated instruction and behavioral interventions in a dedicated SEB classroom for students in grades 3-5
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet diverse learning and emotional needs
- Create a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment conducive to growth and learning
- Write, implement, and monitor IEPs, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to maximize student success
- Document student progress and participate in team meetings and professional development
