Step into a rewarding contract position designed for an experienced Special Education Teacher eager to make a difference in a supportive school environment. This full-time role focuses on a Social Emotional Behavioral (SEB) classroom, working with students in grades 3-5 and offers the opportunity to collaborate with caring professionals on strategies tailored to each learner’s needs.
Position Details:
- Assignment duration: September 1 – October 30, with the possibility of extension
- Schedule: Full-time hours, 8:20 am to 3:40 pm, Monday through Friday
- Location: Dedicated to one building for continuity and relationship building with students and staff
- Caseload includes: Managing SEB classroom for grades 3-5, serving students requiring specialized behavioral and emotional support
Qualifications:
- Valid CT Special Education (SPED) Teaching License required
- Prior experience or training working in Special Education, particularly with social-emotional and behavioral needs
- Ability to create, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to individual student goals
- Strong skills in behavior management and positive behavioral intervention strategies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with families, support staff, and administration
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop lesson plans and provide direct instruction that addresses both academic and behavioral objectives
- Implement evidence-based interventions and maintain a structured, nurturing classroom environment
- Monitor and record student progress, adjusting approaches as required
- Collaborate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to ongoing team planning
- Foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere where every student is encouraged to achieve their best
