Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education (K-12) required
- Solid understanding of multiple disabilities, especially visual impairments
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal abilities
- Experience teaching students with visual impairments/multiple disabilities preferred
- Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform frequent movement (lifting, bending, pushing wheelchairs)
- Comfortable working in diverse environments, including therapy pools and outdoor activities
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity to use computers and specialized equipment
Role Responsibilities:
- Design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), conduct Functional Vision and Learning Media Assessments, and deliver specialized instruction using accessible materials
- Adapt curriculum and resources to suit each learner’s needs—including large print, braille, tactile graphics, and assistive technology
- Foster an engaging classroom environment and support positive behavioral development through proactive strategies
- Lead and collaborate with aides, related services, and families to promote student learning and progress
- Collect data, monitor student achievement, and maintain compliance documentation
- Participate in professional development focused on vision education and best practices
- Assist in student enrichment activities and maintain educational and therapy spaces
