A fulfilling contract position is available for a dedicated Special Education professional to support young learners from kindergarten through second grade in a single school site near Chicago, IL. This opportunity focuses primarily on serving children with developmental disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and ADHD, providing a chance to make a real difference in the formative years of students' educational journeys.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid LBS1 certification is required
- Previous experience with primary-aged students (K-2) is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated expertise working with students diagnosed with developmental disabilities, autism, or ADHD
- Ability to effectively manage a caseload of 7-8 students
- Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset
- Must function independently; assistant-level providers are not considered for this role
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to support academic, social, and behavioral development
- Foster a structured, compassionate classroom environment
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
- Employ data collection and progress monitoring to inform instructional adjustments
- Attend all required meetings, documentation, and compliance tasks associated with special education services
- Maintain a high standard of professional ethics and confidentiality
Position Details:
- Start Date: Immediate (ASAP)
- End Date: End of the current school year
- Work Week: 37.5-40 hours (lunch schedule dependent)
- Student Population: K-2nd grade, primary focus on DD/Autism/ADHD
- Single-school site assignment for focused student engagement
