Step into a dynamic, contract-based opportunity supporting middle and primary school students with diverse learning needs for the upcoming academic year. Two positions are available serving students in specialized classrooms focused on multiple and emotional disabilities. Your expertise will help shape a positive, inclusive educational environment while working as part of a dedicated team within a single building.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid licensure as a Special Education Teacher
- Experience or interest in supporting students with multiple disabilities (autism, non-verbal, physical impairments)
- Expertise in working with emotional disabilities, including knowledge of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), crisis intervention strategies, and social-emotional curriculum
- Confidence adapting to varying student needs, fostering communication and independence
- Skill in collaborating with other educators and related service providers
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage instruction for a caseload that includes one Multiple Disabilities classroom (serving 9-12 students) and one Emotional Disabilities classroom (serving 10-15 students)
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and comply with all federal and state guidelines
- Utilize adaptive communication strategies and de-escalation techniques as needed
- Provide differentiated instruction to support a wide range of learning abilities
- Track student progress, facilitate IEP meetings, and communicate regularly with families and team members
- Support positive behavioral interventions and create a safe, respectful classroom environment
