Make an immediate impact in students’ lives as a dedicated Special Education Teacher supporting 5th and 6th graders in a life skills/intensive needs program. This rewarding contract opportunity offers full-time hours through the end of the 2026-2027 school year. Work closely with a small, focused group—just three students this year—to provide individualized instruction and promote growth in both academic and daily living skills. Desired Background and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification
- Experience with intensive needs populations or life skills curricula strongly preferred
- Familiarity with developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Strong organizational and case management skills
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with families, related service providers, and support staff
- Capable of adapting instruction to varied learning levels and abilities
- Empathetic and patient approach to supporting students’ unique needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to a caseload of 5th and 6th grade students with intensive needs.
- Serve as case manager, ensuring IEP goals and accommodations are implemented.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to foster student growth and independence.
- Track and report on student progress; participate in meetings with parents/guardians.
- Adapt and develop curriculum materials focused on life skills and practical academics.
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with 35-37.5 hours per week, offering a consistent schedule through June 2027.
