Special Education Teacher | Conover, North Carolina

Step into a meaningful role supporting middle and high school students with high levels of autism in a dedicated educational environment near Conover, NC. This contract position begins August 13, 2026, and continues through June 3, 2027, providing consistent, Monday to Friday hours from 8:00am to 3:30pm—up to 40 hours per week—allowing you to positively impact up to 18 students each day.
Bring your expertise as a licensed Special Education Teacher, utilizing your knowledge of adapted curriculum and your commitment to fostering growth for students who follow the extended content standard. You’ll be working in a supportive, collaborative setting designed to enable students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid license in Adapted Curriculum (Special Education)
- Experience working with middle and high school students, particularly those with autism or on extended content standards
- Strong behavior management and individualized instructional skills
- Ability to develop, modify, and implement IEPs
- Excellent communication skills with students, families, and staff
- Flexibility and creativity in a dynamic classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, tailored instruction aligned with extended content standards
- Manage a caseload of 15–18 students with varying needs
- Monitor student progress and update IEPs in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Foster a supportive, structured learning environment that encourages student independence and success
- Communicate consistently with families and staff regarding student achievements and needs
- Participate in ongoing professional development and team meetings
