Special Education Teacher | Coraopolis, Pennsylvania

Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education K-12 (required)
- Experience with students who have visual impairments and multiple disabilities (preferred)
- Familiarity with developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong collaborative, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform required physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds and assisting with student mobility
- Skill in adapting curriculum and utilizing assistive technologies
- Comfortable working in diverse environments, including therapy pools and outdoor spaces
What You’ll Do:
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs and required assessments, tailoring instruction for students with visual and multiple impairments
- Adapt curriculum and materials into accessible formats like braille, large print, tactile graphics, and auditory resources
- Use assistive technology and provide academic, functional, and life skills instruction
- Lead and collaborate with aides, related service providers, and families
- Collect and document data to monitor student progress and inform instructional practice
- Foster a positive, supportive classroom culture focused on growth, social-emotional development, and independence
- Stay current with best practices in vision education through ongoing professional development
Pay for this position ranges from $46,501 to $59,935, depending on degree, experience, and the salary scale. Long-term substitutes may receive support in obtaining a Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification.
