Special Education Teacher | Dalton, Georgia
Step into a rewarding contract role supporting the growth and development of young learners as a Special Education Teacher. This position spans the full academic year—from July 29th through May 21st, 2027, including pre-planning days—and is located at an elementary school near Dalton, GA. You'll be working full-time (37.5 hours per week), primarily supporting 1st and 2nd graders in an inclusive classroom setting, with some students from Kindergarten and PreK as well.
Your caseload will consist of approximately 8-10 elementary students with a range of needs, including autism, significant developmental delays, speech and language delays, challenges in self-regulation, and various learning disabilities. While diapering is not required, close support will be necessary for a student with a toileting goal and supervision needs. This engaging classroom environment is designed to make a meaningful impact through individualized support and collaborative teaching strategies.
Qualifications & Desired Experience
- Current GaPSC teaching license with P-12 Special Education endorsement (required)
- Dyslexia endorsement
- Passion for working with young children who have autism, developmental, and learning disabilities
- Experience with inclusive classroom environments and collaborative teaching is advantageous
- Strong communication, adaptability, and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging special education instruction for PreK–2nd grade students
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other specialists
- Foster a supportive, inclusive, and positive classroom environment
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
