Work full-time, Monday through Friday, for 35-37.5 hours per week during the upcoming school year.
What You’ll Do:
- Support students in academic and functional skills, with one position focused on 6th grade English Language Arts, math, and specialized reading/math instruction
- Use evidence-based reading interventions such as SPIRE, WILSON, OG, or similar programs to meet the diverse needs of your students (for the ELA/math position)
- Provide resource-like academic assistance for grades 6-8, focusing on executive functioning, helping students navigate core curriculum, and building their confidence in learning
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and instructional strategies tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure coordinated support in the learning environment
- Monitor and document student progress while adapting interventions and instructional plans accordingly
- Maintain compliance with state and federal special education laws and regulations
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Current Connecticut certification in Special Education or eligibility for certification is required for both roles
- Prior experience in special education or student teaching experience in inclusive settings is highly valued
- Knowledge of specialized reading interventions, executive functioning support, or academic resource models is preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills are essential
