Special Education Teacher - Daphne, AL
Step into a meaningful role supporting elementary-aged students by bringing your expertise as a Special Education Teacher to a dedicated team. This contract opportunity is based on-site in a vibrant school environment, serving a self-contained classroom for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. You’ll collaborate closely with another special education professional to ensure individualized learning and behavioral support, with a focus on building a nurturing, structured atmosphere for all students.
Key Qualifications:
- Current educator certification in special education (documentation required prior to placement)
- Experience (preferred) in self-contained or inclusive classroom settings, particularly with elementary-grade students
- Proven ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Comfort or experience with basic assisted toileting for students
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
- Adaptability and resilience, especially supporting a school that has not had a dedicated SPED teacher for three years
- Flexibility to adapt strategies and instruction for diverse learner needs
What You’ll Do:
- Provide tailored instruction to a caseload of approximately 10 K–5 students (caseload split with another SPED teacher)
- Develop and monitor IEPs, collect data, and communicate progress with families and support staff
- Create a safe, engaging classroom with clear routines and behavioral supports
- Participate in team meetings, collaborating with the general education staff and school leadership
- Manage daily classroom responsibilities, including some toileting assistance as needed
- Support students’ academic, social-emotional, and behavioral growth
