Special Education Teacher - Davison, Michigan
Exciting opportunities are available for dedicated Special Education Teachers for the 2026-2027 academic year. With multiple openings across self-contained and resource classroom settings, these roles offer a chance to make a real difference for K-12 students in urban schools. Classrooms are capped at 22 students and enjoy support from paraeducators, behavior specialists, and a robust special education team—including mentorship and continuous professional development. Assignments run from mid-August through mid-June at 35 hours per week.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Teacher Certification is preferred; Learning Disabilities (LD), Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitive Impairment (CI), or MDE ZA (Early Childhood) endorsements strongly encouraged.
- Ability to provide official university transcripts prior to placement.
- Experience or affinity for working with urban student populations, and an understanding of resources relevant to their unique needs.
- Familiarity with MARSE and IDEA regulations, or readiness to learn quickly.
- Flexibility and adaptability—caseloads may vary year to year.
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead instruction in self-contained or resource classroom settings for students with cognitive and/or emotional impairments, or learning disabilities.
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to diverse learners, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain ongoing, effective communication with families, paraprofessionals, and specialists.
- Participate in training, mentoring, and professional growth opportunities.
- Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment using evidence-based strategies.
