With as many as 11 openings available across the Grand Blanc, Lansing, and Detroit areas, this contract position offers an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students. Assignments range from self-contained classrooms with a maximum of 22 students to resource classrooms for those with learning disabilities, emotional impairments, or cognitive impairments. Caseloads are subject to change based on evolving needs, ensuring ongoing engagement and challenge.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Michigan Teacher Certificate with a preference for endorsements in Learning Disabilities (LD), Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitive Impairment (CI), or MDE endorsement ZA (Early Childhood) plus an additional Special Education area
- Experience supporting K-12 self-contained or resource special education classrooms
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs), accommodations, and differentiated instruction
- Copy of official university transcripts required prior to placement consideration
- Comfortable working onsite in an urban district
- Flexibility to adapt to changing student needs and caseloads
- Not open to virtual candidates; must be physically present onsite
Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted instruction and support in a self-contained or resource classroom, fostering a positive and inclusive environment
- Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Employ evidence-based strategies to address diverse learning and behavioral needs
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and student records
- Communicate routinely with parents, guardians, and support staff
- Participate in professional development and staff meetings
- Support students’ academic, emotional, and social growth
