We are seeking a passionate Special Education Teacher to provide instruction in a K-1 ACT 18 ASD classroom. You’ll work with a small group of 7-8 students and enjoy the assistance of three dedicated paraprofessionals. The school offers a robust support system, including on-site speech therapy, social work services, occupational therapy, and access to an ASD coach. With a newly implemented, fully developed curriculum ready for you to utilize, you’ll have all the tools needed for success from day one.
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in elementary education
- ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) endorsement/certification, required
- Experience in special education, particularly with students on the autism spectrum, preferred
- Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, engaging learning atmosphere
Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and adapt instruction for a K-1 ASD classroom using provided curriculum
- Individualize learning approaches to accommodate student needs and IEP goals
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals and a full support team (speech, SSW, OT, ASD coach)
- Create a structured, nurturing, and safe environment for all students
- Develop positive relationships with students and families
