Step into a rewarding contract role serving young learners with unique needs in a supportive educational setting just outside of Des Plaines, IL. Work with a small caseload of 7-8 students in kindergarten through second grade, focusing on students with developmental delays, Autism, and ADHD. This position runs through the end of the academic year, with an immediate start available. You’ll enjoy working regular school hours—approximately 37.5-40 per week, dedicated to a single location for stability and relationship-building.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid LBS1 certification is required
- Prior experience working with primary-aged students (K-2) strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of diverse learning needs, including DD, Autism, and ADHD
- Passion for differentiated instruction and tailored behavioral strategies
- Commitment to collaboration with support staff, families, and colleagues
- Strong communication, documentation, and classroom management skills
- Must function independently—assistant-level candidates are not eligible for this position
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s abilities and goals
- Deliver engaging, evidence-based instruction in small group and 1:1 settings
- Track progress, maintain thorough records, and regularly communicate updates
- Foster a supportive, structured classroom that advances both academic and social growth
- Partner with parents, specialists, and related service providers to ensure holistic support
