Make a meaningful impact supporting middle school students as a Special Education Teacher in a welcoming school environment near Detroit, MI. This onsite, contract role offers the opportunity to guide and empower students across three full-time positions—each dedicated to a specific middle school grade level. Work collaboratively to provide essential resource services and shape positive educational experiences.
Key Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid Michigan Special Education Certification (any area)
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Experience or interest in working with middle school-aged children
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Previous experience as a Special Education or Resource Teacher is highly valued
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver resource support for students with special needs within middle school settings (one position per grade)
- Develop and implement individualized instructional plans in line with each student's IEP
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to foster inclusive classroom environments
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
- Provide accommodations and strategies to ensure student growth and engagement
- Participate in IEP team meetings and ongoing professional development
- Support students during school hours, 7:55 am – 2:48 pm, aligned with standard student attendance times
