Sunbelt is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students with a variety of disabilities in a Flex Room setting near Detroit, MI. This position is similar to a self-contained classroom and provides an opportunity to deliver individualized instruction and support based on each student's unique needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction to students with a variety of disabilities
- Manage a Flex Room classroom with a caseload of up to 15 students
- Develop and implement instruction aligned with individual student IEP goals
- Differentiate curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs
- Establish a structured, positive, and supportive classroom environment
- Implement appropriate classroom management and behavioral support strategies
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation and records
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of student plans
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families
- Support students' academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional development
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience working with students with a variety of disabilities preferred
- Experience in a self-contained, resource, or similar special education setting preferred
- Strong instructional and classroom management skills
- Knowledge of IEP development and implementation
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt to individual student needs
