What We’re Looking For:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (Learning Disabilities endorsement typically required)
- Preference for candidates with Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitive Impairment (CI), and/or MDE Early Childhood (ZA) endorsements, or an additional area of special education
- Experience with self-contained or resource classrooms, ideally with caseloads involving K-12th grade students
- Comfort working onsite within urban school environments (this is not a virtual position)
- Capacity to support students in classrooms capped at 22 per class; caseloads may fluctuate according to needs
- Willingness to provide official university transcripts prior to onboarding
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction in self-contained or resource classroom settings based on individual IEPs
- Maintain compliance with all state and federal special education requirements
- Employ strong communication and collaboration skills to partner with families, colleagues, and service providers
- Support students with cognitive, emotional, or learning disabilities through differentiated and evidence-based strategies
- Emphasize social, emotional, and academic growth within a supportive and structured environment
