About the Position
We are seeking a skilled Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction and individualized support to students with disabilities while collaborating with families and multidisciplinary educational teams.
Job Duties
- Develop and implement IEPs
- Provide specially designed instruction
- Differentiate curriculum and instructional materials
- Monitor student academic, behavioral, and developmental progress
- Participate in IEP meetings and evaluations
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
- Implement positive behavioral interventions
- Provide accommodations and modifications
- Maintain accurate special education documentation
- Ensure compliance with IDEA and Michigan special education requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with the appropriate Special Education endorsement for the assignment
- Completion of an approved Michigan teacher preparation program
- Required clinical experiences, including student teaching
- Completion of applicable Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) examinations
- Required reading coursework for Michigan certification
- Appropriate special education endorsement matching the student population served
- Knowledge of IDEA and Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education
- Successful completion of required background screening and district onboarding requirements
