Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid CI (Cognitive Impairment) teaching certification required
- Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) preferred
- Skilled in crisis management and de-escalation techniques
- Proficiency with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices and strategies strongly valued
- Background working with elementary-aged students facing complex communication and behavioral challenges
- Ability to excel in a collaborative, team-based environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs, focusing on cognitive impairment and autism support
- Implement evidence-based interventions for communication, behavior management, and self-regulation
- Employ AAC and other assistive technologies as appropriate
- Foster a safe, encouraging classroom atmosphere that promotes student growth and independence
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings to shape and execute individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Communicate regularly with families and team members regarding student progress and strategies
