Make a difference in the life of a student by providing dedicated, one-on-one support as a certified Special Education/DHH Teacher. This contract position offers the unique opportunity to work in a home-based setting near Hawkinsville, GA, where your expertise will have a significant impact. You’ll be the primary academic instructor for a student who is served at home, helping unlock their learning potential and ensuring access to essential services.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education and/or Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) to support communication and interpretation needs
- Experience working directly with students who have special needs, preferably in one-on-one or home settings
- Strong organizational skills and ability to individualize instruction based on student needs
- Collaborative spirit for working with therapy and vision service providers
- Compassion, adaptability, and a commitment to inclusive education
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive academic instruction tailored to the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
- Interpret in sign language during sessions with therapy providers, vision instructors, and other related service professionals
- Develop, implement, and monitor measurable goals for academic and personal growth
- Foster a supportive, engaging, and communicative learning environment within the home setting
- Adapt instructional materials to meet the student’s individualized learning and communication styles
- Communicate progress and collaborate with family and support professionals on the student’s team
