Special Education Teacher | Henderson, North Carolina
Step into a meaningful role supporting the academic growth and success of exceptional learners in a dynamic, inclusive school environment. This contract opportunity begins August 13, 2026, and runs through June 3, 2027, offering full-time hours from 7:15am to 3:15pm, Monday through Friday.
You’ll work with a range of caseloads and student needs, including self-contained classrooms for both middle and high school students with mild to moderate disabilities, as well as inclusion-based teaching with a focus on English Language Skills (ELS), supporting up to 40 students. The role also extends to providing crucial support to a small group of grades 6–8 students at a STEM school within close proximity.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Hold valid credentials in Special Education or equivalent endorsement
- Experience in resource and self-contained settings, preferably with diverse academic and behavioral needs
- Strong classroom management and familiarity with IEP processes and implementation
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with educators, related service staff, and families
- Background in English or ELS support is a plus, though not required
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction adapting to students’ unique learning profiles
- Develop, track, and manage IEPs, ensuring compliance and student growth
- Collaborate with school teams on interventions and inclusive practices
- Implement positive behavioral supports and foster an encouraging classroom culture
- Provide support for approximately five students at a neighboring STEM campus
