General Curriculum Elementary Special Education Teacher
Hickory, NC
A full-time Elementary Special Education Teacher is needed for the 2026-2027 school year in Hickory, North Carolina. This school-based position will support elementary students receiving Special Education services through individualized instruction, IEP implementation, progress monitoring, and collaboration with the educational team.
Candidates must hold an active North Carolina General Curriculum Exceptional Children (EC) teaching license. Previous elementary Special Education experience is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, implement, and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide specialized and differentiated instruction based on individual student needs and IEP goals
- Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and teaching strategies to support diverse learning needs
- Monitor student progress and use data to guide instructional decisions
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to educational planning and goal development
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and student records
- Implement appropriate classroom and behavior management strategies
- Foster a positive, structured, and inclusive elementary learning environment

QUALIFICATIONS
- Active North Carolina General Curriculum Exceptional Children (EC) teaching license required
- Previous elementary Special Education or school-based teaching experience preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Knowledge of differentiated and individualized instruction
- Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to effectively support students with a variety of academic, behavioral, and developmental needs
