Ideal background and qualities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Valid state licensure and certification in Special Education
- Experience creating and implementing IEPs and modifying curriculum
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to build rapport with students, families, and other staff
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a problem-solving mindset
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized instruction tailored to students’ unique needs
- Manage and update IEP documentation; maintain compliance with state and federal requirements
- Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, therapists, and families
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom atmosphere
- Conduct assessments to monitor progress and adapt strategies as needed
- Participate in parent meetings, professional development, and team planning sessions
