Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher in a high school setting just northeast of Denver. In this role, you will work within a Significant Support Needs classroom, guiding and supporting a small caseload of 9 students. You’ll be an essential collaborator, working alongside three dedicated paraprofessionals to foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Active Special Education Teaching Licensure issued by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE)
- Solid experience working with high school students with significant support needs, preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities to partner with paraprofessionals, families, and school staff
- Creative, flexible approach when adapting lessons and supports to individual student goals
- Commitment to promoting educational equity and student empowerment
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and assess individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student on your caseload
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals within the classroom to ensure consistent and effective support for all students
- Foster a positive, safe, and engaging classroom community using research-based strategies
- Communicate regularly with parents, specialists, and administrators to ensure student needs are being met
- Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and prepare required reports in compliance with district and state guidelines
