Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
- Create engaging, differentiated lesson plans tailored to various learning styles and ability levels
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote student progress and inclusion
- Track and report on student performance, providing regular updates to parents and school administrators
- Foster a safe, positive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages student growth and independence
- Maintain accurate records and participate in required meetings and professional development
- Provide direct instruction, behavioral interventions, and support strategies to meet each student's unique needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification (or eligibility) in North Carolina
- Experience working as an EC (Exceptional Children) Teacher highly desirable
- Demonstrated understanding of special education best practices
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to advocating for and empowering students with diverse abilities
- Adaptability and creativity in instructional methods
