This contract position offers the opportunity to work with a manageable caseload of 8-10 students, alongside two full-time classroom paraprofessionals and access to a Registered Behavior Technician. You'll have the support and resources needed to foster student growth while creating a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching license with EC-6th content credentials.
- Background in elementary education and experience working with students with significant cognitive and behavioral challenges.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with paras and RBT support.
- Ability to implement and adapt instructional strategies for life skills and manage behavioral interventions.
- Compassionate and patient approach for supporting students with diverse needs.
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small group instruction tailored to each student's IEP goals within a life skills framework.
- Collaborate daily with paraprofessionals and the RBT to ensure a consistent, therapeutic, and structured classroom atmosphere.
- Develop and modify lesson plans and behavioral supports according to student progress.
- Engage and communicate with families and multidisciplinary teams to track and celebrate student growth.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom where every child can thrive.
