Special Education Teacher in Lakewood, OH

Two contract opportunities are available for dedicated Special Education Teachers ready to work with diverse learners. This role begins August 24, 2026, and continues through June 7, 2027, offering a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours per week in one building.
These classrooms focus on students with multiple disabilities—including autism, non-verbal communication needs, and physical impairments—or those with emotional disturbances, requiring expertise in BIPs, social-emotional learning, and crisis intervention. You’ll collaborate with a supportive multidisciplinary team to cultivate a positive, inclusive, and successful learning environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching license (required)
- Experience with students who have multiple disabilities or emotional/behavioral challenges
- Proficiency in developing and implementing BIPs and IEPs
- Familiarity with non-verbal communication methods and adaptive technology
- Strong crisis management and de-escalation skills
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students and contribute to a positive classroom culture
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and modify curriculum for students' unique learning needs
- Develop and implement BIPs, IEPs, and social-emotional programming
- Maintain a safe, structured classroom routine
- Utilize effective classroom management and crisis intervention strategies
- Collaborate closely with families, support staff, and administration
- Collect and analyze data to drive instruction and measure student growth
