What You Bring:
- Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with Learning Disabilities preferred; Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitively Impaired (CI), or MDE ZA (Early Childhood) endorsements welcome
- Experience or strong interest in self-contained and resource classroom settings
- Knowledge of Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and related IDEA federal regulations
- Commitment to serving students in urban districts, with an understanding of the unique challenges faced by these communities
- Strong communication, classroom management, and advocacy skills
- Official university transcripts required prior to placement consideration
- Comfortable working onsite; this is not a virtual position
Your Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction in self-contained or resource settings, with caseloads up to 22 students
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, behavior specialists, and a dedicated special education team
- Develop and implement IEPs aligned to student goals and state/federal regulations
- Foster supportive relationships with students, families, and school staff
- Participate in ongoing professional development and mentorship programs
- Contribute insights on urban education challenges and community resources during the interview process
