Special Education Teacher - Lapeer, Michigan

Multiple positions are open for the upcoming 2026–2027 academic year, specifically supporting classrooms with children facing cognitive impairments or learning disabilities from kindergarten through 12th grade. Key Qualifications:
- Active Michigan Teacher Certificate with an endorsement in Learning Disabilities (LD) required; Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitively Impaired (CI), or MDE endorsement ZA (Early Childhood) with another Special Education specialization preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and IDEA Federal Regulations.
- Prior experience or strong interest in working with urban youth and awareness of the unique challenges and resources relevant to this community.
- Ability to provide an official copy of university transcripts before onboarding.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload in self-contained classrooms (up to 22 students per class) or resource rooms based on student needs.
- Collaborate with special education teams, including paraprofessionals and behavior specialists, to deliver individualized instruction and support.
- Develop and implement IEPs, monitor student progress, and participate in ongoing professional development and academic training.
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that prioritizes the well-being and academic achievement of every student.
