A rewarding opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to join an elementary program dedicated to students with significant emotional and behavioral needs. This is an on-site, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, located near Manitou Springs, CO. The role is center-based, supporting an elementary caseload in a self-contained classroom environment. Immediate start dates are available and the assignment runs through late May 2027.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Colorado Special Education Teacher license (required)
- Previous experience working with elementary students with serious emotional disabilities and behavioral needs strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and positive behavior interventions
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies for diverse learners in a self-contained setting
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and implement individualized education plans for a caseload of elementary students
- Foster a supportive, structured environment that encourages growth and meets students’ emotional and behavioral needs
- Collaborate with other special education staff, general educators, and families to ensure holistic support for students
- Attend and contribute to team meetings and participate in administrative time
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavioral interventions
- Adapt materials and instructional techniques to accommodate varying abilities and challenges
