Special Education Teacher - Mariposa, California
Bring your expertise to a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Special Education professional. This full-time position, located near scenic Mariposa, CA, runs throughout the 2026-2027 academic year with an August start date. You’ll work on-site with a group of up to 10 students requiring mild to moderate support in grades 5 through 8. The elementary-aged student population (K-6) is situated on a main campus, where a collaborative environment and additional leadership support are always available.
Your extensive background with IEPs—including planning, facilitating meetings, and implementing interventions—will be essential. Experience supporting students with social/emotional needs is highly valued, as is your commitment to in-person learning.
Your background should include:
- Active California Mild/Moderate Education Specialist credential (required)
- Demonstrated success working with students grades 5-8 in a special education capacity
- Solid history of writing, managing, and facilitating IEP meetings
- Proven ability to support and encourage students with social and emotional needs
- Skilled in collaborating with teachers, families, and school administrators
- Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and effective communication abilities
- Commitment to in-person instruction—remote work is not available for this role
Key responsibilities:
- Manage a mild/moderate special education caseload (maximum of 10 students)
- Develop, implement, and assess IEPs, ensuring all legal and educational requirements are met
- Collaborate with a supportive team including principal and vice principal
- Deliver engaging instruction and tailored interventions to foster student growth
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment for all learners
