Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active Michigan Special Education Teacher license (please provide documentation).
- Experience working with elementary or middle school students, with a preference for resource room settings.
- Strong understanding of IDEA, IEP processes, and best practices in special education.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to supporting diverse learners and creating inclusive classroom environments.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide resource-based instruction, tailored to foster learning and growth among a caseload of 10 elementary or 11 middle school students.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Develop and adapt curriculum materials according to students’ needs.
- Assess student progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with families.
- Support students in achieving their academic and social-emotional goals in a positive, structured environment.
- Maintain compliance with all state and federal special education regulations.
Additional Details:
- Contract start date: ASAP, with an end date tentatively set for June 10, 2027.
- Two full-time positions available—please indicate your preference for elementary or middle school placement.
- Work 35 hours per week between 7:35 a.m. and 3:10 p.m. across resource classrooms at Athens High School and East Leroy Elementary.
- Compensation: $80.00 per hour.
