Special Education Teacher in Montrose, CO
Make a meaningful impact in the lives of elementary students as a Special Education teacher for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This full-time contract position offers an opportunity to work with a mild/moderate caseload, providing much-needed support and guidance in a resource and/or inclusion setting. The start date is August 12, 2026, and you’ll collaborate closely with a passionate team to develop, implement, and monitor individualized educational plans.
Key Qualifications:
- Hold an active Colorado Special Education License or be eligible to obtain one through reciprocity.
- Demonstrated experience supporting elementary-aged students in a special education setting is preferred.
- Thorough understanding of IEP compliance, case documentation, and the special education process.
- Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with general education staff, related service providers, and families.
- Ability to address and support diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional student needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct special education instruction tailored to individual student needs.
- Create, implement, and review IEPs to maintain compliance and drive student progress.
- Conduct ongoing progress monitoring and maintain accurate special education documentation.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals, participating in IEP and multidisciplinary meetings.
- Offer resource and/or inclusion support, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
This position is onsite, though hybrid candidates may be considered based on district needs and preferences.
