Embark on a rewarding contract role supporting elementary learners as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This full-time opportunity runs from August to June and offers the chance to make a substantial impact in the lives of 5th and 6th grade students.
Two distinct positions are available:
- One opening is for a resource room Special Education Teacher, serving approximately 15 students. You'll support a diverse group with varying needs, collaborating with general education staff and families to ensure every child receives quality individualized instruction and services.
- The second opening is designed for a Life Skills/Intensive Needs Teacher. In this role, you'll operate a self-contained classroom for a small group of students (currently three) with complex medical needs and/or Autism Spectrum Disorders. Each student benefits from paraprofessional support, allowing for focused, compassionate, and highly personalized care.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility for certification).
- Demonstrated experience working with elementary students—preferably 5th/6th grade.
- Background in resource room instruction, life skills programs, or intensive needs settings.
- Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset.
- Ability to organize individual education plans (IEPs) and work closely with paraprofessionals.
- Dedication to fostering inclusive, supportive learning environments.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tailored lesson plans and IEPs.
- Deliver direct instruction and interventions in accordance with student needs.
- Monitor, document, and communicate student progress.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families.
- Oversee and guide paraprofessional staff (Intensive Needs position).
