Working with a 5th and 6th grade caseload, you’ll be part of a supportive school community serving just three students in the life skills/intensive needs program.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience teaching students with significant needs, preferably at the upper elementary or middle school level
- Proven ability to create and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong background in both academic and life-skills instruction for students with intensive support requirements
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with families, support staff, and related service providers
- Organizational skills for effective case management and documentation
- Commitment to inclusive and student-centered practices
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as lead teacher and case manager for a small group of 5th/6th graders in a life skills/intensive needs program
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to student goals
- Adapt instruction and materials to accommodate a range of learning abilities
- Provide direct instruction in academic, daily living, and social skills
- Collect data to track student progress and inform ongoing instruction
- Work closely with related service staff, paraprofessionals, and families to coordinate comprehensive support
- Maintain compliance with district and state special education regulations
