Seeking experienced Special Education Teachers for an impactful, full-time contract role supporting multiple schools in the New Orleans area. Begin as soon as possible and continue through the end of May 2027, working 35 hours per week according to the school calendar. Your expertise will make a significant difference, not only by providing direct instruction to students with special needs, but also by mentoring and assisting non-certified educators within the district.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as an itinerant special education specialist for a school district, moving between campuses as needed
- Guide and support non-certified teachers in the special education setting with instructional planning, classroom management, and individualized support
- Lead in drafting and updating IEPs, collecting and analyzing student progress data, and preparing progress reports
- Share best practices in instructional strategies tailored for students with special needs
- Uphold all district, state, and federal requirements for special education services
Desired Qualifications:
- REQUIRED: Active Louisiana Department of Education Certification with Special Education (SPED) endorsement
- Please note: TA and TAT credentials are not accepted for this position
- Skilled in IEP writing, data collection, and progress monitoring
- Strong ability to collaborate and coach fellow educators
- Passion for creating inclusive, supportive classrooms
- Must successfully complete district fingerprinting, drug screening, and background check processes
